Where To Go
To add a video to your class page by uploading one directly to eChalk instead of a 3rd party video hosting service, you will log in to your site and click on the class tile. From here go to Manage Public Pages > Pages > select a page name > Click Edit or Edit Draft.
What To Do
-
Click Add Content in any Content Block. If you don't have any Content Blocks available, click Add New Row to add a row of Content Blocks.
Note: Video blocks will scale to automatically fit the block you have chosen. They work best in 50%, 66% and 100% blocks. Captions are automatically generated for all videos hosted on eChalk but should be reviewed for accuracy.
-
Select Video from the menu.
-
Enter a Title for the Content Block.
-
Click Add Video
Note: Videos can be up to 120 minutes long and up to 1GB in size. -
Browse for your file where it's stored and select your video:
-
From School Resources
-
From My Files
-
From My Device
-
From Google Drive
-
-
Click Upload. Processing the video file could take a while depending on how large the video is. The video block will be created automatically and you can navigate away from this page to manage other content in the meantime.
-
Click Continue.
-
Once the video has finished processing, select one of the video posters displayed. Video Posters will display before the video is played. Think of it as a cover photo for the video. Only one Poster can be active at a time. You can add a custom video poster by clicking on the + and uploading your own!
- Select Captions. Captions have been created automatically for your video in its original language.
Note: For the correct captions to be generated, your video must contain clear audio. Keep in mind that only spoken language can be captioned. You should review the autogenerated captions and correct any issues seen. You can also add additional language translations but we recommend that you edit your subtitles before adding additional language support to ensure the captions are first correct in the native language. - Review the auto-generated subtitles for errors. If eChalk generated subtitles that we aren't sure about, they are highlighted in yellow for your review. Click on any subtitle to edit.
- To accept the edit, click ABC next to the subtitle.
- To add supported languages for translation, click + next to OTHER and select a language.
- Repeat step 12 to add other languages.
- Click Save when done.
